History
1998 Norwegian Rally Champion (Group A) with 4 wins. Takes one win in both the European Rally Championship and Swedish Rally Championship. Makes his début in the WRC in Sweden, where he finishes 14th (Toyota Celica GT 4). 1999 Runs for Ford in the WRC. His season's highlight is a 5th place in Safari Rally. 2000 Ranks 10th overall in the WRC standings. Leaves Ford and joins Subaru for the next season. 2001 Scores 11 points and finishes 10th in the WRC standings. 2002 Wins first WRC event in Great Britain and ranks 2nd overall. 2003 Wins 4 events in the WRC (Cyprus, Australia, France and Great Britain) and wins the WRC title. 2004 Ranks 2nd in the WRC standings at the end of the season, with 82 points. Wins 5 events - New Zeeland, Greece, Japan, Great Britain and Italy. 2005 Runner-up once again in the WRC standings, with the same number of points as Marcus Grönholm. Still, the Subaru driver wins 3 events in the season, as compared to only 2 wins for Grönholm. He scores a total of 71 points. 2006 Second in Italy and Australia. Ranks 6th overall, with 40 points. 2007 Continues with Subaru WRT and improves to 5th overall in the Drivers' Classification. Mechanical problems and bad luck keep Solberg out of the podium finishes for most of the season. Highlights a 2nd place in Portugal and scores 47 points overall.
2008 Fails to match his teammate's performances in the first half of the season, making the scoreboard only 2 times in the first 6 rounds. Comes 2nd overall in Greece and then gest to score points in all the remaining 8 rounds on schedule to finish the season as the 6th best driver of the championship.
